Varo is a Dublin-based duo comprising Lucie Azconaga from France and Consuelo Nerea Breschi from Italy. They blend Irish traditional songs and tunes with influences from Folk, Baroque, and Classical traditions. Meeting in Dublin in 2015, they combined their diverse musical backgrounds, resulting in a self-titled debut album released in January 2020. Varo has performed at various venues and festivals both in Ireland and abroad, including St. Patrick’s Festival, Tonn Nua (Berlin), and for productions such as TG4’s ‘Samhlú ’ hosted by Tommy Tiernan. They are currently working on an ambitious collaboration project featuring some of Ireland’s most exciting trad and folk acts such as John Francis Flynn, Anna Mieke, Ian Lynch (Lankum) and more, set for release in 2024.
