The legendary Irish tenor banjo player Gerry O’Connor and his trio will take to the stage in The Abbey Tavern Howth to celebrate the life and music of great Barney McKenna. Gerry, who also plays fiddle, mandoline, guitar and tenor guitar will perform some of his own iconic tunes and those of the maestro Barney. Opening the night will be McKenna’s Mutineers. All four members knew Banjo Barney well and played at house parties and sessions with the Legend over the years. It will be a memorable night and a fitting TradFest tribute to the pioneer of the tenor banjo in Irish traditional music.
