The Barnsley singer released her debut Hourglass in 1997 and earned a Mercury Prize nomination for 1999’s Sleepless — a rare feat for a folk artist. Across a career spanning more than 25 years and over 20 albums, she has interpreted traditional song and written originals with equal warmth, earning her the affectionate title of the Barnsley Nightingale. A multiple BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winner, she also curates the Underneath the Stars festival in her native Yorkshire.
