Le Boom are Irish brothers Andy and Christy Leech, an electronic act known for their immersive live shows that sit somewhere between a gig, a rave and a house party. Instead of performing on a stage, they play from the floor in the middle of the room, surrounded by the crowd. With Christy and Peter Fleming building the music live and Andy’s spoken word cutting through the tracks, the audience becomes part of the show rather than just watching it.
Over the past two years, Le Boom have built a loyal grassroots following through their secret Gael Rave events and dedicated WhatsApp communities. What began as a handful of intimate nights has grown into a community spanning Ireland, the UK, Australia and New Zealand, with pop-up events in Glasgow, Liverpool, London and beyond.
Musically, Le Boom draw as much from trad, indie and spoken word as they do from electronic music. Their songs move naturally between Irish and English, reflecting the bilingual community that’s grown around the band. Recently Le Boom have seen support from BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong, Sarah Story and Jaguar, sold-out headline shows including London’s Unlocked in Shoreditch, and a growing run of independent releases. This August they’ll play their biggest Belfast headline show to date at the iconic Limelight.
More than anything, Le Boom have become known for creating nights people want to come back to. Through word of mouth, WhatsApp and a live show built around connection, they’ve built a community that feels as important as the music itself.
