Born in London and raised in Nottingham, Megan Nic Ruairí carries her Irish heritage confidently through a contemporary sound, enriched by a deep love of the Irish language and poetry from her young life in Donegal. She comes from a musical family well known for its contribution to Irish music and extensive international touring, and has built her own following as a solo artist through appearances on BBC productions and national radio.
Her songwriting is rooted in nature and sense of place — most of her songs are written at a piano facing the sea at her home in Rann na Feirste, and the seascapes heard on her debut single ‘Can’t Trust the Moon’ were recorded below her house.
