Including an early medieval monastery, a 16th-century fortified house, as well as a community centre nestled high in the Dublin Mountains, in South Dublin venues you’ll find musical performances, conversation events and workshops in both the dense suburbs of the capital, and in stretches of unpopulated mountains.

South Dublin County Council

The partnership between South Dublin County Council and TradFest began in 2025, bringing Irish arts and culture to previously under-served areas of the capital.

With sprawling suburbs as well as rolling hills, South Dublin boasts a bit of everything, with plenty to explore right across the region.

Áras Chrónáin Ionad Cultúir

Áras Chrónáin, the Irish Cultural Centre, is a unique oasis of vibrant Irish language, music, song, dance and culture. Over the years, its magnificent Georgian house has welcomed some of the biggest names in traditional music.

Brú Chrónáin Round Tower Visitor Centre

Standing at over 25 metres in height, Clondalkin Round Tower has looked over the village for around 1000 years, and was built in the middle of an early medieval monastery. With a museum and café, it’s now a modern visitor centre.

Court Of Petty Sessions

Built and opened in 1914, the former County Court of Petty Sessions in Rathcoole was a forerunner to the modern day district courts. When it became unsuitable for court business, it became a village library, and now hosts a variety of community led events.

Civic Theatre Tallaght

The Civic Theatre in Tallaght opened in 1999, with it hosting international productions and local work from South Dublin since. It has two performance spaces – the main auditorium and the Loose End studio – ideal for artistic and cultural performances.

Glenasmole Community Centre

Nestled high in the picturesque setting of the Dublin Mountains, Glenasmole Community Centre has served its local community since the 1970s. Its aim has always been to create a space which will serve everyone in the area, old and young.

Rathfarnham Castle

Rathfarnham Castle is a 16th-century fortified house in South Dublin, which was built for Adam Loftus, a clergyman and politician who would go on to become the Archbishop of Dublin and Lord Chancellor of Ireland. Nowadays it hosts a wealth of exhibitions and cultural events.

St. Maelruain's Church

St. Maelruain’s Church was built on an ancient Christian site with a long and distinctive history. Not long ago it was a small rural church, but as Tallaght continues to grow, St. Maelruain’s now finds itself at the centre of a diverse and ever-expanding town.
